I know the feeling of when day three of watching the clock tick tick tick made me want to punch walls and kick through doors...
Lack of sleep brings out our demons.
It makes us more susceptible to immune dysfunction, it makes our stress resilience drop, and starts eating away at our muscles... Understandably, it can make us PANIC and feel completely tossed about as we try and make it through the day.
It can also bring out our greatest teachers if we learn to change our perspective on sleepless nights.
We can learn to not make it a big deal, and actually, use our sleepless nights to embrace the opportunity to learn to rest, even while we're WIDE AWAKE. Even when we WISH things were different...
Eventually, you might even find yourself wide awake, not even minding, even a little EXCITED to notice a new dimension of your aliveness.
If insomnia is something you struggle with, save this for later to do IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORM.
Let me know how it goes.
A reminder that helped me when I struggled with years of sleepless nights:
"MY BODY WILL SLEEP WHEN IT NEEDS TO."
Let the storm pass lightly, you'll be asleep in no time...
